¡Hola! I’m Emily, the primary teacher at Tortuga.

My love for Spanish began as a child and deepened through experiences living abroad and working with Spanish-speaking communities in the United States.

Though I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish with additional studies in Intercultural Studies, TESOL, and Linguistics, most of my knowledge of the Spanish language comes from connections with real people.

My professional background includes teaching English as a Second Language to newly resettled refugees and serving as a Spanish-English interpreter.

Through Tortuga, I aim to build confidence in students while nurturing their love for people and culture.
